EC announces NPP’s Patrick Boakye Yiadom as winner of Obuasi East seat

The parliamentary election results for the Obuasi East seat have been recollected, and Patrick Boakye Yiadom of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was confirmed as the winner by a margin of 19 votes.

The exercise, which took place at the Greater Accra Electoral Commission (EC) Office, is part of the nine constituencies that are being re-collected today.

According to an EC spokesman, Mr Boakye Yiadom received 18,558 votes to keep his seat, narrowly defeating his nearest competitor, Samuel Aboagye of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who received 18,539 votes.

Adjei Owusu Afriyie, an independent candidate, trailed by 424 votes.

The re-collation was required due to disagreements over procedural issues during the initial tally.

The EC emphasized the importance of transparency and accuracy in maintaining the integrity of the democratic process.

The EC G/A Regional office has strict security measures in place.
