Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, a Bosomtwe Member of Parliament (MP), has intimated that he intends to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general election.

The former education minister remarked that he sees numerous prospects in Ghana and feels that effectively capitalising on them will require a motivated and capable leader.

In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Dr. Adutwum stated unequivocally that he had the attributes required to drive Ghana’s development.

“Your vision must shock you; otherwise, you will not change your country. You are establishing an extremely high growth rate, but economists tell you that is what is required to build your country.

“Then you are looking for people who are competent, fully determined that the course of the history of their nation will be better because they came—and with that sense of determination, I have no doubt in my mind,” he told me.

He went on to say that in the coming days, he will address the lingering question in the minds of many Ghanaians, clearing all concerns.

“I have no doubt that opportunities abound. To what extent may we use them? How are we utilising the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)? The Chinese have promised to give us free tariffs; how will we use them? “In any country, we would have had guidance centres,” he stated.

Dr. Adutwum also unveiled plans to transform the Business Resource Centres established by previous Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen into “Prosperity Centres” that will provide solutions and advise to encourage economic development.

Although he has yet to officially declare his intentions, Kwasi Nti, the previous NPP Chairman for the Fomena Constituency, recently backed him as the ideal candidate.

This frank confession, made on Nhyira FM’s Kuro Yi Mu Nsem show, has sparked public interest, especially as Kwasi Nti is well-known to be politically aligned with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s running mate in the 2024 election.
