Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s former vice president, has expressed happiness about Mohammed Kudus‘ well-publicized transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.
According to reports, Tottenham and West Ham United have agreed to a £55 million deal for the Ghanaian international.
Before agreeing to a six-year contract with the North London club, Kudus is anticipated to go through a medical in the next few days.
Dr. Bawumia, a fervent Tottenham supporter, expressed his joy at the transfer in response to the announcement on social networking platform X (previously Twitter).
“I am thrilled to watch our Ghanaian sensation join my Spurs. Mohammed Kudus, good luck with your medical exam,” he wrote.
In 2023, Kudus paid £38 million to join West Ham United from Dutch team Ajax, and he had a stellar debut season. In all competitions, he recorded eight goals and nine assists. He made 35 games in the Premier League, with four assists and five goals.
The 24-year-old’s West Ham contract expires in 2028, and earlier this month, a release clause (worth £80 million for non-English clubs, £85 million for domestic rivals, and £120 million for Saudi Arabian teams) was activated.
Kudus’ experience in European events, especially from his time at Ajax, is anticipated to support Spurs’ aspirations as they get ready to return to the Champions League.
