Donald Trump has officially taken office as the 47th president of the United States.
In a special ceremony known as an inauguration, President Trump succeeded Joe Biden as America’s new leader.
Several previous US presidents, including Mr Biden, attended the occasion.

Due to the frigid weather, it was moved inside the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC for the first time in 40 years.
In his first speech as president after taking the oath, Donald Trump promised to make America “greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before”.
It’s the second time that Mr Trump has taken on the post, having previously served as president before Joe Biden from 2017 to 2021.
