President-elect John Dramani Mahama visited Kenyan President William Ruto.
According to Mr Mahama, the purpose of the visit was to thank him for his years of support and to invite him to his January 7 inauguration.
In a Facebook post following the visit on Sunday, December 29, Mr Mahama stated, “It was a great opportunity to discuss our regional integration efforts, continental security, and how we can work together to expand the benefits of the AfCFTA.” As the former Chair of the African Union’s High-Level Committee on commerce, I am still committed to boosting commerce between our countries through the AfCFTA.
“We shall strengthen relations between Kenya and Ghana.”
President Ruto, for his part, told Mr Mahama that Kenya’s connections with Ghana will be strengthened by expanding trade and investment opportunities in agriculture, mining, tourism, and oil and gas.
He stated that this will increase opportunities for the people of both countries and assure our mutual prosperity.
He congratulated him for expressing his support for Hon Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission chairperson candidacy.
President Ruto consented to attend the swearing-in event.
