Chalks.org is an NGO founded in 2019 with the aim of equipping communities deprived of the modern use of technology, especially computers. Modernization would force individuals to keep up with current trends of development in all facets of life, including the educational sector.
The absence of this technology in schools becomes a loss to students in these schools. The inspiration to form this NGO emanated from this predicament.
Who Is The Founder Of Chalks.org?
Shubho Ghosal, Ph.D. is the founder of the Chalks organization. He resides in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He is a director of data, BI, and analytics. He also doubles as the CEO of Chalks.org
The Founder’s Inspiration Behind The Organization
“The Chalks vision came to me after I saw a news article on children being taught computing using chalk on a chalkboard. At that time, I was building a new PC every two years just for my own use using the latest and greatest components.
I also had access to the very latest in technology education on topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics.
And here were kids being taught a basic program like Microsoft Word using chalks on a chalkboard. The disparity felt like I had run into a brick wall.
My original vision was to build technology and data centers in cities near remote areas and create satellite centers in a remote areas that would link to these.
I also wanted to create a learning platform called PATH that would allow a kid in a remote area to become an AI or ML engineer.
However, I have since recognized that it will take a long time because it takes a lot to convince people to donate to a new cause given the many causes that already exist. Also, the students are behind on the learning curve, so it will take a longer time for them to achieve the goal I had in mind for them.
Nevertheless, I believe that our collective persistence, including myself, my donors, the students, and the community, will eventually get us to our vision. I have changed my strategy to take smaller steps to achieve the vision”
Beneficiaries of Chalk.Org
Chalks have its first center at Yawmatwa, and its second center at Adjoafua, and plans are underway to establish a third center at Kwametawiakrom. As indicated earlier, chalk seeks to develop technology in remote communities. Many areas stand to benefit from them in years to come
