Black Stars have jumped from 68th to 64th in the most recent FIFA rankings, a four-place increase.

Even so, they are still ranked 12th in Africa. With the break in their seven-game losing run earlier in June, this upward shift in the rankings is the Black Stars’ first rise in a long time.

Their incredible comeback victory over Mali on June 6 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers marked the start of their return. Ghana won 2-1, thanks to goals from Jordan Ayew and Ernest Nuamah in the second half.

The four-time African champions then prevailed against the Central African Republic (CAR) in an exciting 4-3 match, maintaining their remarkable streak.

On the global stage, Argentina remains at the top of the rankings, followed closely by France and Belgium.

The Black Stars’ recent performances have revitalized the team, instilling hope and confidence as they aim for further success in the upcoming qualifiers and competitions.

The team will soon begin preparations for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers before revising the remainder of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers next game
