Bawumia-Napo ticket can’t win a genuine election –Nyaho Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is unconvinced of the pair that the party is fielding in an attempt to win the December elections.

He asserts that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, and Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, his running mate, will never win a legitimate election.

“That ticket,, I don’t believe, can win a genuine election in this country,” he stated.

In a special interview, he made this statement to Atsu Tamakloe of JoySports.

In addition, Dr. Tamakloe suggested that Dr. Bawumia was not involved in choosing his running mate—a decision he claims will hinder cooperation.

“And as I predicted earlier, that there is no way Bawumia will have a free hand to pick his running mate? Never. I said it earlier, I have the tape. [I said] his running mate we pick for him. And that’s exactly what happened,” he said.

“Why should Bawumia not be allowed to pick his own running mate? Whether he will gel with his running mate, that is his palava.”

The NPP is eyeing electoral victory saying the two candidates are its best bet to stay in power.

But the former sports administrator is of a different view.

He cited Napo’s recent controversial assertion regarding Kwame Nkrumah as a mistake adding that it will be difficult for Ghanaians to forgive him.

“Certain mistakes are made and they are difficult to correct. So that mistake made by Napo, look at the reaction as a result of his statement that has sort of degenerated almost everywhere, even outside the country. Nigerians are even talking about it,” he explained.

He also cautioned the Electoral Commission that “any tricks they will play to change the results will lead this country into a serious disaster.”
