Today, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is scheduled to officially open and commission the Tamale International Airport.
The second phase of the Tamale Airport renovation, which cost 70 million dollars, got underway in March 2020.
A brand new terminal building that is more appropriate for the airport’s status as an international airport is included in this project.
In addition to these features, it comes with a first-class road that connects it with the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway, a new parking lot, and space for commercial vehicles.
Bawumia commissions $70m-Tamale International Airport
As a result of the airport project’s inclusion of an ultra-modern Hajj terminal that is solely devoted to Hajj operations, Tamale has become the epicenter of Hajj operations in Ghana.
It is anticipated that the project will, among other things, increase the revenue generation for the Ghana Airport Company Limited, accelerate the potential increase in domestic travel, position Tamale as a sub-Saharan hub airport, and support the programmes of the Northern Development Authority to increase access to agricultural products. Additionally, it is anticipated that the project will position Tamale as a sub-Saharan hub airport.
