A nurse at Ridge Hospital, Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, who was allegedly injured during a heated confrontation with relatives of a patient on August 17, has filed a GH¢7 million lawsuit against social media commentator Ralph Saint Williams, also known as Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian.

Miss Bortei filed a Writ of Summons at the High Court in Accra on August 20, 2025, seeking GH¢5 million in damages for battery and an extra GH¢2 million for slander.

According to her statement of claim, Ralph physically attacked her, resulting in a dislocated shoulder and a hand injury that have impeded her professional obligations as a nurse.

The action also claims that Ralph defamed her by making critical remarks online, calling her a “liar” and accusing her of exaggerating the extent of her injuries. In one post, he allegedly wrote:

“Liar, wo nsam abu. Duabɔ bebam. You claim you have an injured hand and a dislocated shoulder. “This is fabricated to conceal the nonsense going on at the hospital,” the writ claimed.

Bortei’s lawyers, lead by Charles Delali Blagogee of Blagogee, Blacksword & Co., claim that these utterances have harmed her image, exposed her to public mockery, and eroded her credibility as a health expert.

The requested reliefs include a public apology and a retraction of the defamatory comments in the same media and prominence.

A perpetual injunction prohibiting Williams from uttering further defamatory remarks, a 50-meter restraining order against the defendant, legal fees, and any other remedies deemed appropriate by the court.

Ralph has been ordered to appear within eight days after service; otherwise, the court may issue a default judgement.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has set a one-week deadline for a newly formed committee to investigate the incident and report.

Mr. Akandoh has reportedly offered to fund all the nurse’s medical bills.
