Asantehene resumes Bawku conflict mediation today

Asantehene

On Monday, April 28, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, will begin mediating the Bawku conflict between the two parties.

This comes after President John Mahama promised that the Asantehene-led peace process would go on as part of the country’s attempts to bring peace back to the tense area.

The Asantehene announced in a statement released on April 15 that the mediation sessions to settle the Bawku unrest will be held at his palace in Kumasi from April 28 to May 1.

Colonel Festus Aboagye, a retired security analyst, has advocated for more backing for Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s mediation efforts in the protracted Bawku war through the use of multi-track diplomacy.

Colonel Aboagye stressed the significance of including different society players in the peace process in an opinion article published on Monday.

To promote a more thorough and long-lasting solution, he recommended involving women’s peacebuilding networks, young influencers, and diaspora leaders.

He suggested using “multi-track diplomacy, incorporating diaspora leaders, youth influencers, and women’s peacebuilding networks, to support Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s mediation.”
