Asante Kotoko has conveyed its deep grief over the death of former player and coach Michael Osei, who died at the age of 53 on Friday, November 15, 2024, in London.

In an official statement, the club stated that Osei has been dealing with a cardiac issue in recent months.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former player and coach Michael Osei, having sadly suffered from a heart condition in recent months.”

“Everyone at the club is thinking about his family and coworkers. “Rest in peace, Michael,” the club stated.

Osei was regarded as one of Ghana’s best midfielders, beginning his career at Okwawu United and rose to prominence at Asante Kotoko.

His outstanding performances earned him a transfer to Germany, where he played for Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05.

As a coach, Osei led various Ghanaian clubs, including New Edubiase United, Liberty Professionals, and Bibiani Goldstars.
