Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a glowing tribute to Apostle Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies, who passed away last Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, September 14, the NPP flagbearer hopeful described Apostle Safo as more than a religious leader, praising his innovation, philanthropy, and dedication to national development.

“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a pioneering Ghanaian innovator, and the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

He highlighted Apostle Safo’s role in championing indigenous technology and inspiring industrial growth in Ghana, adding that his numerous charitable works improved the lives of many.

“As a religious leader, his open arms received me. Anytime I called on him, I departed his presence with lasting words of encouragement and wisdom,” Dr. Bawumia recalled.

He extended condolences to Apostle Safo’s family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all who mourn his passing, praying that his legacy will “continue to endure and inspire future generations to believe in our domestic solutions, serve their communities, and put Ghana first.”

Apostle Kwadwo Safo, widely known as the “Star of Africa,” was celebrated for his innovations in automobile manufacturing, agriculture, and charitable works.
