Angela Evelyn Bassett, who is known as one of the most renowned actresses in Hollywood, was born on August 16, 1958, in New York, which is located in the state of New York in the United States of America.

Angela Bassett has won several honors, including an Academy Award, seven Primetime Emmy Prizes, three Black Reel Awards, a Golden Globe Award, seven NAACP Image Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to being nominated for both of those awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Academy Awards.

In the 1980s, when Bassett had just finished her education at Yale University, she launched her career in the entertainment industry. Bassett made her acting debut as the singer Tina Turner in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do with It, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of “Best Actress.”

This followed a series of minor roles, the most notable of which was Reva Styles in Boyz n the Hood (1991).She went on to be in a number of critically acclaimed and financially successful movies, such as The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992), Voletta Wallace in Notorious (2009), Amanda Waller in Green Lantern (2011), and Coretta Scott King in Betty & Coretta (2013).

On August 16, 1958, Bassett was born in the state of New York, which is located in the United States of America. Her parents were Betty Jane Bassett and Daniel Benjamin Bassett, and she was their first child. She spent her childhood with her sister D’nette Bassett, who was also born in 1960.

After she finished the seventh grade, she moved on to Azalea Middle School to continue her education and complete the eighth and ninth grades there. When Bassett’s mother became more concerned with her daughter’s academic achievement, she announced to her and her sister that the two of them would be attending the same college.

When Bassett was a student at Boca Ciega High School, he was active in several extracurricular activities, including the debate team, student government, theatrical club, chorus, and the Upward Bound college preparatory program.

Angela Bassett was also a member of the cheerleading squad. The only grade worse than an “A” or “B” that Bassett had ever received was a “C” for her work in physical education. She endeavored to reassure her mother that the outcome was nothing to be alarmed about.

Angela Bassett received her Bachelor of Arts degree in African-American studies from Yale University in the year 1980. She went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts degree in drama from the Yale School of Drama in 1983, against the warnings of her maternal aunt that she should not “waste” her Yale education on theater.

Angela Bassett was the only member of the Bassett family to have finished both college and doctoral levels of education. Courtney B. Vance, who would later become Bassett’s future husband, had graduated from Yale’s drama department in 1986 when the two met at Yale. Both Bassett and the actor Charles S. Dutton attended the same school.
