On Friday evening, the first leg of Algeria and Ghana’s U23 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying round resulted in a 1-1 draw. Algeria and Ghana are competing against each other.
Both teams played exceptionally well during the match, which took place at the Stade 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba, Algeria. As a result, the second leg, which will take place in Kumasi, is shaping up to be an exciting one.
Fatawu Issahaku’s incredible shot from a distance gave Ghana the lead in the second half of the game. The Algerian goalkeeper was off his line when the midfielder saw him and collected the ball in his own half before unleashing a powerful shot that went over his head and into the back of the net.
It was a remarkable goal, and it put Ghana in the driver’s seat in the match.
In spite of this, Algeria did a good job of bouncing back after falling behind and began to dominate possession as they looked for an equalizer.
They persisted until it was almost the end of the game and were eventually rewarded with a penalty, which they successfully converted.
Prior to that, goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim had shown great brilliance by making a save from the penalty spot to prevent Algeria from scoring.
The second leg of the match will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and both teams’ focus will now shift there in preparation.
A berth at the 2023 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco, as well as a trip to the Olympic Games in Paris, are both on the line in this contest, so it should be an exciting one.
The success Ghana had in the first match will serve as motivation for them in the second match.
