President Akufo-Addo says he will step down from office when his term is up.
When his tenure ends, he will transfer power, upholding the legacy of his predecessor.
“On January 7th, I voluntarily resign as president.” I do this because, in the fourth place, the people of Ghana have granted Agyekum Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings the honor of serving two terms as president of the republic. They will be in excellent company with me,” he declared.
On August 5, he said this during a Jubilee House Senior Citizens luncheon.
President Akufo-Addo said it has been the greatest honor of his life to be allowed to serve as head of state for two terms.
He also challenged himself to oversee a peaceful and fair election in the upcoming polls in December as he prepares to leave office.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized his commitment to achieving this goal with the support of all Ghanaians.
“The last major challenge for me is to preside over peaceful and fair elections in December, and that is a commitment,” he stated
