Every time Abduljabbar delivers a sermon, fatwa, or other form of Islamic instruction during Jumu’at congregation, he challenges everyone present, saying that he seeks a legal Islamic verdict debate against any Nigerian Islamic scholar who is willing to offer Islamic scriptural evidence that would support what he is asserting about the Hadith. Abduljabbar asserts that he objects to the hadiths that Bukhari and Muslims claim do not support them.

The Izala Society, Salafiyya, Tijaniyyah, and Qadiriyya in Kano State reported Abduljabbar to the state government, claiming that “They have come along with nine blasphemies, which were stated by Abduljabbar in his preaching towards Muhammad in video and audio format, which will serve as a reference that Abduljabbar is making blasphemies”. Abduljabbar was then detained by the Kano

The Kano State government will formally arrange a debate [5] between him and four young Islamic sheikhs who would represent the Salafiyya, Tijjaniyya, Izala Society, and Qadiriyya sects, with the late Sheikh Mas’ud Mas’ud Hoto as the Qadiriyya sect’s representative. Abduljabbar was thought to be the Kano State administration, led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, which decided to close Abduljabbar’s mosque and forbid him from giving lectures and performing da’wah throughout the whole state of Kano due to the blasphemy and the risk for anarchy.

The governorship of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was also terminated. Abduljabbar said that the Kano State government’s decision to ban him was unfair in an interview with BBC Hausa.
