I have spent about $100k for the promotion of ‘A Country Called Ghana’ – Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin

Well-known Kumawood actor LilWin has said that he has invested about $100,000 in promoting his latest film, “A Country Called Ghana.”

In an attempt to publicize the film, the actor and producer bought a brand-new Mercedes Benz C43 AMG and decorated it with leaflets for their upcoming film.

LilWin claims that the price of only buying and branding the Benz is close to GH₵500,000.

In an effort to promote the film, LilWin reported that more than 3000 T-shirts—each costing GH₵50—had been made and that more than 60 billboards—each costing GH₵6000—had been erected throughout Accra and Kumasi.

He clarified that he took these actions solely to garner love and support for Ghana’s film industry and to market the film to Ghanaians.

“This movie, just the promotion, is getting to $100,000. People will say Kwadwo brags but I can give you analysis so you can confirm that its true. The AMG Benz, which we have branded just for the promotion of the movie, is almost GH₵500,000. I should have even acquired a mansion and branded it ‘A Country Called Ghana.’

“This is all because of my love for Ghana and the movie and because I want all Ghanaians to support the industry,” he said on Tuesday, May 14, on 3FM Drive.

LilWin will premiere his new movie ‘A Country Called Ghana’ on May 17 at the National Theatre and on May 25 in Kumasi.

The movie features stars including top Nigerian actors like Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurun and Awilo.

Meanwhile, LilWin has disclosed that playing romantic roles in movies is his toughest challenge as an actor.

He noted that although he eventually plays such roles in movies, he always feels uncomfortable when acting such them.

LilWin, who is currently on a media tour to promote his movie ‘A Country Called Ghana’, made this revelation in an interview with 3Xtra’s King Kwaku Mensa.

“There’s no character I have not played. The only role I’m not comfortable with it romance or love. I feel shy to even kiss another character; although I will do it, it makes me feel uneasy,” he said on May 14, 2024.
